TRELLIS is an open-weights image-to-3D model line from Microsoft Research Asia, built with co-authors at Tsinghua University and USTC and released under the MIT licence on the microsoft GitHub organisation. The founding year refers to Microsoft Research Asia, the Beijing lab that leads the work; it is not a standalone company. The first model (CVPR 2025) introduced structured latents that decode to Gaussians, radiance fields or meshes, and TRELLIS.2 (December 2025) moved to a 4B-parameter O-Voxel model with full PBR materials.
