Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) was formed on 30 June 2025 under Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, consolidating FAIR (founded 2013) and Meta's other AI groups; the founding year here refers to MSL. The earlier Llama line (Llama 4, April 2025) was open-weights, but MSL's flagship Muse Spark models are proprietary, served through the Meta AI app and, since July 2026, the Meta Model API. The lab also released the open-weights Muse Glimmer in August 2026.
